A RECENT HOUSE REMOVAL IN SEVENOAKS
One of the most notable removals we have carried out in Sevenoaks in recent months was the National Trust property Knole House. Although there are no permanent residents in Knole House itself. Every National Trust property has a house manager who looks after its day to day running. The customer is question was heading up to Yorkshire to look after another property.
As with all of our removals, we sent out one of our surveyors to work out exactly how much furniture needed to be moved. It was also important with a move of this nature to assess the access to the property, what sort of vehicle we might use and where we might be able to park it considering the number of tourists in and around the property throughout the day. Unfortunately, this was no easy feat. The property was situated on the first floor of one of the outer wings of Knowle House and there were only two options. One of them consisted of a very low archway and a long walk to the front door and another was the main entrance to the property. To make sure we kept any disruption to a minimum we decided to go with the low archway and the long walk to the front door.
On this removal, in particular, the customer decided to pack up their goods into boxes themselves and so our packing services were not required. We did, however, provide the additional service of driving the customer’s spare car up to Yorkshire. When moving a little bit further afield, the removal normally happens over two days. However, in this instance the time frame was not as important because the National Trust already owned both properties.
